Astrid
Astrid is our manager, bookkeeper and resident redhead. She and Johan started Juizi together in 1996, but she stepped into her current role in 2009. She has qualifications in various fields, including food science (MSc), bookkeeping, marketing, and wine evaluation (WSET Level 3). She’s full of energy and when she’s not in the office creating some level of order, she can often be seen around town on her bicycle or going for long walks in nature, preferably with family and friends. Astrid has been a Plone Foundation Member since 2024 and is currently the team lead for the Plone Foundation Marketing Team.
Karel
Karel is our front-end developer and designer, and has been part of the Juizi team since 2011. He’s all about making websites that look great and feel just right. With certifications from the UX Design Institute and IDEO, he’s serious about usability and always curious about what makes people click (literally). He likes design that’s simple, smart, and just works. Outside of work, you’ll usually find him watching animated movies, hitting the gym, or off exploring somewhere new. Karel has been a Plone Foundation Member since 2023, and is currently active on the Plone Documentation Team.

Johan
Johan is our developer, chief coffee drinker and random fact knower. He knew from a young age that he wanted to be an engineer. After he graduated with a degree in electronic engineering, he worked on bottling machinery for a few years before becoming a software developer. He and Astrid founded Juizi in 1996. In his free time, he likes to tinker and build things.
Alex
Alex is our junior developer, CMS support and animal lover. With a BA (Hons) in Linguistics and currently pursuing a Masters in IT, she sees herself as a lover of learning and problem solving, which led her to pursuing web development. When not pursuing a new skill or qualification, she can be found reading a good book and doing sunrise plunges into one of Cape Town’s many tidal pools.
